Officials RepresentativeI notice on the news page the recruitment of Mike Farrell as the new Club Doctor. (I beleive he still qualifies for the College too...)
A few years ago we used to have an officials rep - I have a new volunteer for the role if it is something we would like to have again; John Longland (recent IOT graduate) is keen to get involved. He is a qualified Ref and is waiting to go flying training.
He is keen to get involved with either ref'ing or otherwise.
Any thoughts,

REFEREE JOINS THE TEAMRob I think it would be great to have John on board for a number of reasons:
We've suffered from some match officials not turning up this year so it's always handy to have a substitute
He could become a great help on the line.
He could give the team a talk on the rules of the game and the inner workings of the mind of a referee.
He should register if he hasn't already done as an RAF referee and Mark C will need his details. If he wants to give me a ring I'll give him a number for the Referee's Association.

I agree completely, anyone who wants to get involved with Icarus is more than welcome. From what i can gather, for too long the club has relied on the 'same old people' doing the work. For us to continue to grow in a fresh, vibrant manner, we need new blood, keen to get involved and spread the workload.
I hope John is looking forward to meeting everyone. My best regards to him, and i look forward to seeing him soon.

I agreee that it sounds like a good idea. Briefings to the players on new rules would be great!
